Quentin Gargan lives in West Cork where his strawbale house gets its energy from a combination of wind turbines, micro-hydro, solar PVs, solar water heating and timber from his own woodlands.
Originally qualified as a mechanical & plastics engineer, Quentin later worked in telecommunications, linear electronics, and computer programming. In the 1980s he founded Wholefoods Wholesale which continues to be Ireland’s leading healthfood distributor. More recently his work has focussed exclusively on renewable energy systems, particularly process control, and lecturing on renewable energy.
Jerry Geaney works for Voltsys designing and building a range of electrical and electronic controllers. This work includes layout and prototyping of printed circuit boards, writing microcontroller software code to drive the operation of controllers and laying out and wiring the completed control panels. Before joining Voltsys, Jerry trained and worked as a IT network technician providing IT systems and support for small businesses. He’s also worked as an electrical engineer for an engineering & project management company who oversaw commercial building projects. Jerry holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from UCD, has completed a pharmaceutical upskilling course at the Institute of Technology in Tallaght and is a member of the Institute of Engineers in Ireland.Nigel Tuck joined the Natural History Museum in London, having completed a four year apprenticeship gaining qualifications in electronic engineering. This was the start of a nineteen year career in the Exhibition industry producing control systems for a wide variety of applications and clients.
Having recently relocated to Ireland, Nigel has joined Voltsys providing additional technical expertise to the team.
